My experience at this very pleasant, austere galician restaurant bar was short, but sweet. I didn't have much time for the nicely priced (at 10 eur!) lunch special, but I did get a good sense of the menu, service and quality of the food.
I sat at the small bar and ordered my usual vegetarian go-to meal, tortilla española (spanish omelette) and a soft drink. The waiter promptly served me my drink and gave me two, not one, different canapes to munch on while he warmed up my omelette. Was I getting the special treatment, or is the standard service? I don't know, but I damn sure appreciated it! And the canapes were delicious- with anchovies and tuna and tomatoe, and very fresh. As all of the tapas and other foods in the fridge case appeared to be. Everything looked so appetizing and the prices are good.
As I delved into the very good, huge (enough for 3 people!) portion of tortilla, I scoped out the menu and the space. It's really quite nice- lots of windows, white walls, simple, clean, with plenty of tables (2 rooms) for dining and large barrel tables with stools for beer drinking and tapa eating. It isn't your typical galician bar that looks like it's been around since the civil war. Nor is it plastic and "modern". They also boast a fairly large flat screen tv for soccer games and news. The menu is solid. They have plenty of fish dishes, meat dishes, amazing (sounding) salads, wine, and other typical tapa fare. Average price for a meat or fish entree runs about 15 eur. The salads are between 7-10 eur. My hunch is that you are going to get mounds of food though, because my huge portion of tortilla plus drink ran me only 4 euros. These are most likely dishes that you can share.
All this and you are right in the heart of one of the best (its one of my favorites, at least) neighborhoods in the city center. There are lots of other cool bars, restaurants, shops and events just a stone's throw away. I know where I'm going to have a beer this friday.
I really liked this little bar. The bartender is great and the canapes are awesome. Great prices for wine and beer too.
